Ray Rice knocked fiancee out

— -- Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice struck his fiancée with his hand, rendering her unconscious, according to a summons obtained by ESPN.

Rice and his fiancée were both arrested for simple assault after an incident early Saturday at a casino in Atlantic City, N.J. Rice and the woman "struck each other with their hands," according to an Atlantic City police report.

A video obtained and posted online by TMZ on Wednesday shows Rice lifting the woman by her arms out of an elevator at the Revel Casino and laying her on the ground. She appears limp as he pulls her legs away from the elevator doors and later props her up.

Haloti Ngata has been chosen to replace Rice at the Maryland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' kickoff party on Friday night for its annual March of Animals event.

An spokeswoman for the organization said it was a mutual decision because the two sides didn't want to take the focus off the animals and the cause.
