Sergio Garcia 'fired' by girlfriend
— -- Sergio Garcia has been "dumped" by girlfriend Katharina Boehm -- as his caddie.
Garcia said at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on Wednesday that Boehm would no longer be carrying his bag in tournaments, even though they won the Thailand Golf Championship together last month.
"I wanted to keep going, but she fired me," Garcia joked during a media session at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. "It was something she wanted to do since we started dating, and I thought that would be a good week, being the end of the year and maybe a little bit more relaxed."
Garcia is back with Neil Wallace in Abu Dhabi, where he is making his 2014 season debut. Wallace was on Garcia's bag toward the end of last year, although the world No. 10 has had a revolving cast of caddies the past few years.
The victory in Thailand was Garcia's only win in 2013 and capped a tumultuous year that saw him involved in a controversy with Tiger Woods.
"I think it turned out pretty good, but I think we'll leave it," Garcia said of Boehm's stint as caddie. "She has a good winning percentage at the moment."
