Terrelle Pryor gets snaps at QB, WR and safety for Browns

— -- Cleveland Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor?got some snaps?at the quarterback position Sunday against the Miami Dolphins?and threw his first passes in an NFL game since 2013.

Pryor ran three plays as quarterback on the Browns' second drive. All were from the shotgun and were read-option plays.

Pryor ran for 15 on the first play, threw to Gary Barnidge for 26 yards on the second, and rolled right and overthrew Rashard Higgins on the third. Miami's Xavien Howard could have intercepted the pass but dropped it.

Cody Parkey later missed a 41-yard field goal on the drive, his first try as a Brown.

Pryor finished the first quarter with six quarterback snaps. He threw for 26 yards (a team high) and ran for 14 yards on two carries and caught two passes for 27 yards.

He finished the game with eight catches for 144 yards -- along with 35 passing yards and 25 rushing yards in the Browns' 30-24 overtime loss in Miami. Pryor even played safety on the last play of the first half.

Rookie Cody Kessler?started at quarterback for the Browns with both Robert Griffin III?(shoulder, on injured reserve) and Josh McCown?(shoulder) sidelined by injuries.?

Pryor played quarterback at Ohio State and was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the 2011 supplemental draft. After he was released by the Raiders in 2014, he wasn't able to secure a spot with an NFL team until he converted to wide receiver and was named a starter at the position for the Browns this season. He also started two games at receiver for the Browns at the end of the 2015 season.

He has six receptions for 100 yards in two games this season. He also was hit with a costly taunting penalty in last Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

As an NFL quarterback, Pryor passed for 1,953 yards with nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions in three seasons with the Raiders. He completed 56.3 percent of his passes (170 of 302 attempts).

Browns cornerback Joe Haden did not play Sunday because of a strained groin injury. Haden, who had two interceptions in the Browns' Week 2 loss to the Ravens, is one of seven starters who did not play Sunday.

Others out include McCown, wide receiver Corey Coleman, safety Ibraheim Campbell, offensive lineman Cam Erving, defensive lineman Carl Nassib and kicker Patrick Murray.
