— -- MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday re-signed defenseman Patrice Brisebois, who set a career-high with 15 goals this past season, to a one-year contract. Brisebois, 30, has spent his entire 11-year career with the Canadiens and was a member of the 1992-93 Stanley Cup championship team. "We are happy to have come to an agreement with Patrice Brisebois," Canadiens general manager Andre Savard said. "Patrice ranks as one of the very good offensive defenseman in the NHL. His contribution is an important asset for our organization, and we will definitely benefit from his experience and leadership for the upcoming season." A native of Montreal, Brisebois led all NHL defensemen with 11 power-play goals and recorded 36 points this past season, one shy of his career high of 37 set in 1997-98. A second-round pick of the Canadiens in 1989, Brisebois has 67 goals and 182 assists in 576 games.
