Oct. 13, 2010— -- Sony has unveiled its line of high-definition televisions with Google TV built in. Google's software is designed to let viewers seamlessly channel surf and surf the web at the same time. Users will also be able to download apps for their TVs. The sets go on sale this weekend, with screens ranging from 24 inches to 46 inches.

Microsoft released a test version of its new web browser last month. The Wall Street Journal's Katie Boehret has been testing Internet Explorer 9. She says it compares favorably to other browsers, and handles graphically rich websites with no trouble.

"It allows these websites to run very cleanly, and without stuttering and without having trouble loading," Boehret said. "So that's a huge advantage, especially as the web grows and more people are creating these rich websites."
