Sept. 17, 2010— -- Yahoo is upgrading its mail and search sites. The company gave a sneak peak of the changes Thursday, ahead of the fall launch. Yahoo Mail runs faster and has a new look with integrated instant messaging. Search results will feature a capsule with key information about a requested topic.

Samsung's answer to the iPad is getting some serious support. All four major wireless carriers say they will sell the Galaxy Tab. The device has a 7-inch screen, two cameras for videoconferencing and runs on Google's Android software. None of the wireless companies said exactly when it will go on sale or how much it will cost.

We all know talking on cell phones drains the battery, but the opposite may soon be true. Scientists in Korea have developed a material that turns sound waves into electricity and hope to one day use the technology to charge phones. Another possible use would be sound-insulating walls near highways that generate electricity from passing cars.
