The Spider-Man story begins in a lab when geeky Peter Parker, played in the film series by Toby Mcguire, is bitten by a radioactive spider. University of Minnesota physicist James Kakalios told ABCNEWS.com, "Real spider silk is strong enough; it could support him as he [swings from buildings]," he said.
