Giant pandas enjoy a feast in their new home at the Beijing Zoo, June 2, 2008.
Eight giant pandas selected by citizens to add cheer to the Beijing Olympics arrived at the capital's zoo from their former home in the earthquake-devastated Sichuan province on May 24 and will meet the public on June 5, Xinhua News Agency reported. The pandas, which are on the endangered species list, were living at the Research and Conversation Center for Giant Pandas in the Wolong Nature Reserve when the 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit earlier this month. The animals were uninjured. (China Daily, via Reuters)
