Built in 1723, the Old North Church is Boston's oldest standing church building. On the eve of the American Revolution, the majority of the congregation was loyal to the British king. To sit in the church, members of the congregation would have to purchase a pew box. Burial in the basement's crypt was reserved for those who could pay. (Jake Whitman)
