— -- On AMC's Mad Men, Christina Hendricks plays sexy secretary Joan Holloway, a woman with strong opinions about everything that takes place in the office.

Off-screen, the actress professes to have little use for technology, although she enjoys reading scripts on an iPad, and loves texting on her Android G2 phone.

Hendricks has a starring role in a new video game, Need for Speed: The Run. We met up with her at the swanky Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, where she was doing interviews to plug Electronic Arts' Speed, which will be released Tuesday.

Why Speed?

"I'm married to a huge video game player (actor Geoffrey Arend, ABC's Body of Proof). They asked me to do it and I thought it would be fun and different. There's a lot of gaming at home. Many hours spent on the computer and TV. I come and watch."

Games she plays

Not many, but will partake in Nintendo Wii bowling and connected Nintendo dance games like Just Dance.

Would Mad Men's Joan be gaming?

"Not at the office, but definitely at home. She's a very spirited gal. She'd probably be into games."

When it comes to tech, it's all about the phone

Hendricks has no use for Twitter, blogging or Facebook, of which she once told Esquire, "No man should be on Facebook. It's an invasion of everyone's privacy. I really cannot stand it."

She does bring her Android G2 phone with her everywhere she goes. "I had an iPhone and it drove me crazy. I don't think I ever sent a text and had it say what I wanted to say." The auto-correct feature was an issue, as was the touchscreen. She prefers the physical keyboard of the G2.

A huge texter

"You have to (text) these days. I feel like no one answers their phone anymore. I'm old-fashioned. I still make phone calls." She texts because it's the only way to reach some of her friends. "This is the amazing thing. I'll call someone and they won't answer, then I'll text them, and they'll get back to me right away. Immediately. It drives me crazy."

Ditch the iPad

"My husband always says, 'take the iPad' (to work,) but I never get on it. I like talking to people and socializing." The one thing she does use the iPad for: reading scripts, thanks to the ability to use the touchscreen to swipe. "It's really easy to see the pages and move them along."

Forget about Googling

"I typed my name in very early on, and it is extraordinary the mean and awful things people say about you on the Internet, so I learned my lesson. I don't do that anymore."
