Mars: A Panoramic View
What would the Martian landscape look like if you could stand on the surface of the planet Mars? NASA digitally combined a series of images taken by the Spirit rover in 2005 into a 360-degree panorama that answers the question.

Taken from atop a hill over a three-day period, Spirit was instructed to take the photos with the same resolution as a human with 20-20 eyesight.
Dubbed the "Everest" panorama, the digitally-stitched image shows a level of detail that according to NASA, "Has a level of detail unparalleled in the history of Martian surface photography."
