    The newest video game consoles are ready to duke it out, just in time for holiday shopping. Sony's Playstation 4 (top) is available now for $399, while Microsoft's Xbox One (bottom) will go on sale on Nov. 22, 2013 for $499.

    Killzone Shadow Fall is the fourth console entry in Sony's first person shooter franchise. Players can also issue commands to their drone assistant by swiping on the touch pad.

    Microsoft hasn't forgotten gamers in its bid to turn the Xbox into an all-in-one media center. While much of it looks the same as the Xbox 360's controller, there are some slight improvements, such as the more responsive directional pad.

    However, the Kinect went through a significant overhaul since the Xbox 360. The biggest improvement is its speech recognition, which is integrated into many of the Xbox One's menus. The Kinect is included with each Xbox One console.

    The new Xbox has an HDMI port that can be connected to the cable box, allowing people to watch TV through the console. It works for channel surfing but isn't too convenient to watch shows recorded through DVR. However, you can still use your old TV and cable remotes to get access to those shows

    Forza Motorsport 5, a racing game exclusive to Xbox One, looks great both in screenshots and in motion. The game also partnered with the popular TV show Top Gear, whose hosts provide commentary throughout the game.

    Dead Rising 3, a zombie survival game published by Capcom, is one of the most eagerly awaited titles available when the Xbox One launches Nov. 22, 2013. Players will still be able to mash random objects together to create unusual weapons great for decimating the undead.

    Even games like Zoo Tycoon, published by Microsoft Studios, look great. While more understated than games like Forza Motorsport 5 and Dead Rising 3, the look of these animals is still something to behold.

    Both Sony and Microsoft are thinking of how people can interact with their consoles outside of the living room. The Playstation 4 and Xbox One have apps available on both iOS and Android mobile devices. The Xbox One app is also available on Windows phones.
