The Cassini probe shows the rings of Saturn in all their splendor in this image. But it wasn't easy. To show the rings in detail, the camera exposure had to capture light from the darkest part of the rings, but it also had to show the sunlit globe of Saturn. So you see a magnificent depiction of the range of Saturn's rings, but the sunlit half of the planet is overexposed. (NASA/JPL/Space Science Institute)
