To mark the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's first manned space flight, Google dedicated its homepage, on April 12, 2011, to an interactive logo showing an astronaut looking into space as a shuttle blasts off from Earth. Gagarin, the first person in space, flew the Soviet Vostok 1 on a single orbit of Earth on April 12, 1961.
