Oct. 29, 2013— -- Seriously, what's with the giraffes?

It's The Great Giraffe Challenge. Think of it like a Facebook version of a fairy tale, where a mischievous imp asks the children of the village a riddle. If they get it right, they go about their way, but if they get it wrong, then *POOF*, they're transformed into a giraffe.

The riddle goes like this: "3:00 am, the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors, It's your parents and they are there for breakfast. You have strawberry jam, honey, wine, bread and cheese. What is the first thing you open?"

The origin of the riddle itself is probably tucked away in some history book, but the Facebook version has a much clearer history. According to Know Your Meme, the origin of The Great Giraffe Challenge comes from vlogger Andrew Strugnell. He both posted a video to YouTube and created a Facebook fan page dedicated to the challenge on Oct. 26.

The challenge has also spread beyond Facebook, making its way into message boards and Yahoo Answers. It wouldn't be too surprising if in a couple weeks it started making its way into your email, forwarded by your parents who are catching onto the meme a little late.

So what do you do if you think you know the answer? Strugnell's website has a blank field where people can type in and submit their answer. Many others have come up with a different answer that isn't recognized by the website but is generally considered "acceptable." But you're not going to find either of them here. Try it out for yourself and let ABC News know what you think the answer to the riddle is.

Or, if you're impatient, Google it.
