Nintendo Dominates U.S. Games Sales

Sales of hardware and video games are up 31 percent from last year.

July 24, 2007 — -- NPD Group, which tracks North American video games sales, released their June sales report on Monday. As has been customary in recent months, both the DS and Wii continue to dominate US hardware sales, though overall sales of both hardware and software were up last month.

NPD also released the top 10 selling games for the first half of 2007, largely comprised of Nintendo titles as well. There are as follows (without exact numbers):

1. Pokemon Diamond (DS)

2. Wii Play (Wii)

3. Pokemon Perl (DS)

4. God of War II (PS2)

5. Guitar Hero II (PS2)

6. Guitar Hero II (360)

7. Mario Party 8 (Wii)

8. Crackdown (360)

9. Diddy Kong Racing (DS)

10. Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)

Total industry sales were up 43 percent over last year.
