TechBytes: Google Acquires Motorola Mobility

Landmark acquisition marks Google's entry into smartphone hardware business.

Aug. 16, 2011— -- In today's TechBytes, big news for Google. The company plans to buy Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion, its biggest acquisition ever.

This merger marks the first time that Google is getting into the smartphone hardware business, but it also nets Google 17,000 Motorola patents.

Cyberbike for Wii

In today's video game review, Parenting.com's Rachel Fishman Feddersen says Cyberbike for the Wii, used in conjunction with a specially designed exercise bike, is a great way for families to work up a sweat.

"The Cyberbike is a fun new way to interact with your screen, to be very active, to use the Wii in a way that uses your body in a different way. And it succeeds," says Fishman Feddersen.

Cyberbike for the Wii retails for around $200.

BART Protests

Demonstrators disrupted the evening commute in San Francisco yesterday.

They were protesting Bay Area Rapid Transit's decision to cut off cell phone service inside its stations, to prevent a social media protest over a police shooting.
