Dec. 2, 2009 — -- We're beyond just thinking about Tiger Woods' accident or affairs. Now, we're hanging on a single word in his explanation, it seems.

Woods' apology to his family and his regret over his "transgressions" have gone "volcanic," according to Google Trends.

"I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart," Woods began his statement of apology. "I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves."

America's most successful golfer has dominated Web searches for days now. Tuesday's top search term was "Jaimee Grubbs," Woods' alleged mistress, on Google and Yahoo.

But after Woods' statement, the word "transgressions," by itself, topped Google Trends' most-searched terms.

Even after falling to number two behind "tiger woods affairs voicemail," this afternoon, "transgressions" still was classified by Google as "volcanic."

Evidently, after days of silence, the golfer's apology has many Web surfers looking up the definition of the word "transgressions." There are several connotations such as a violation of faith (most commonly biblical), the law or a social norm.
