6. Living Social

If you're something of a last-minute shopper but don't want to miss out on great gifts for family and friends, get ready for Living Social's 12 Days of Giving.

In the days leading up to Christmas, the deal-a-day application will feature special local holiday packages, including weekend getaways, restaurant deals, local retail discounts, spa experiences and more.

If you like something, you have to act fast because the deals last only for 24 hours. But the site says it offers discounts as steep as 50 percent to 90 percent off.

7. TGI Black Friday

If you're planning to join the Black Friday madness, make sure you're armed with this application.

It lets you search more than 10,000 Black Friday deals across the country, including leaked ads for major retailers. If you want to keep tabs on new deals as they're posted, you can adjust your settings to send you alerts as they go live.

The application also helps you manage your shopping list and e-mail deals to yourself and others.
