Amazing Races of 2008
KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII:
More than 1,700 athletic travelers flocked to Hawaii this season to compete in the Ironman World Championship triathlon in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Oct. 11, 2008. After swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 and running 26.2, winners Craig Alexander and Chrissie Wellington finished the race in 8:17:45 and 9:06:23, respectively. Next up on the Ironman circuit: a Nov. 23 Ironman in Tempe, Ariz., followed by a Dec. 7 Ironman in Western Australia before the athletes ring in 2009.
