
"We have been up to the top of volcanoes and down into deep dark lava tunnels, we hiked through endless desolate lava fields and along vast deserted pristine beaches, and it's all amazing," Catherine wrote. "Even more amazing to think that every creature that somehow managed to float, fly, swim or drift here all those millions of years ago, did so quite by accident. And then having survived the journey, they then had to adapt to an inhospitable and often deadly volcanic environment."
