Delta to end Des Moines-to-Salt Lake City flights

— -- Delta will discontinue its daily flights from Des Moines to Salt Lake City at the end of August, the Des Moines airport announced today.

Service to Salt Lake City has been intermittent over the years. In May, Delta announced it would restart the flights. But "Delta representatives claim that economic and industry conditions prevent the route from being profitable," the airport said in a press release.

"A Delta official said the airline may reinstate the service at some point in the future if the economy and commercial air industry rebound," the airport said.
