It's summertime, and vacation daydreams are about to become reality. Sure, skydiving and Salsa dancing might be on the itinerary but after the pressures of the past few years, most of us would love nothing better than a long, carefree snooze in the sunshine. Here are a few of our favorite nap spots starting with a real-life dreamscape captured during sunset at Ambergris Caye, Belize.

Consistently voted among North America's most romantic spots, Surf & Sand Resort has something that every California beach hotel is supposed to have, but few actually do: a true oceanfront setting. The Pacific is so close you can feel the salt spray breeze from the comfort of your sun lounger. Glass-walled balconies protect guests from sand gusts without obstructing the views.

Of all the beachside hammocks in Mexico, this may be the most idyllic. It's set up on a choice and little-trafficked patch of beach occupied by the St. Regis Punta Mita. A gated resort development that serves the ultra-luxury demographic, Punta Mita is the crown jewel of Mexico's burgeoning Riviera Nayarit.

A soft green lawn, a rushing creek, warm Northern California sunshine and a bottle of Napa's finest. What could be more conducive to dozing? This scenario is right outside the door at Napa's Milliken Creek Inn. To ensure you'll have it to yourself, sneak down during sunset "Magic Hour" when all the other guests are over complimentary wine and cheese.

Relaxing isn't easy in Miami Beach, where the scene on the sand and at the popular hotel pools tends to be loud and peacocky. The Hilton Bentley strikes a perfect balance between buzzing and serene. If you want to see and be seen, hang out poolside, close to the bar. When you want to lose yourself to the sun and the mojito haze, stake a claim on one of the daybeds which are set back near the beach.

While normally Red Rocks Amphitheater is associated with some of the biggest and loudest live music events in the West, we like one local's suggestion of napping here on a non-event day. Claim your own little spot with a blanket and pillow, and have the epic beauty of Red Rocks all to yourself, just for a moment in time.

The colorful, friendly and fun Caribbean island of Curacao is known for its European-influenced beach clubs and family resorts, but there are also serene beachfront boutiques like Baoase, pictured here. After a morning of diving amidst wrecks and reefs, decompress on a surfside chaise.

Having your head in the clouds can be a blissful experience. At Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel, which occupies 12 acres of Andean cloud forest at the foot of Machu Picchu, the intoxicating scent of native orchids (a world-class collection of 372 distinct species) and the music of tropical birdsong lull the senses off to dreamland.

For jetsetter style and stunning scenery, there is nothing that can top the overwater bungalow experience, as presented here by the Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa. Breathtaking from a birds eye perspective, it's even better when you can reach out and drift your fingers through Tahiti's crystal-clear aquamarine waters.

Sunset on Australia's Great Barrier Reef is a visually dramatic experience. While it's magical from a beach viewpoint--sandy toes and all--a million-dollar deck view elevates one's perspective. Lizard Island has only one uber-luxury resort, with 24 private beaches, private ocean-facing balconies like the one pictured, and footpath access to and fro.

Open-air villas at Lupita Island gaze out onto mystical Lake Tanganyika, estimated to be the worlds longest and second-deepest freshwater lake. Although Lupita Island is officially part of Tanzania, it seems to be almost in its own world, a pristine 130-acre patch of natural paradise with one tiny rustic-luxe resort comprised of just 11 villas and 2 cottages.

For the many who find aquariums soothing, the underwater suite at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island allows you to experience it in a way that's not quite immersive, but certainly the closest that creatures without gills can get. Guests get a 180 degree undersea view, from within a spacious, climate-controlled, luxurious glass cocoon.
