If you're staying at <a href="http://www.starwoodhotels.com/luxury/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1757" target="external">The Nines Hotel</a> in Portland, Ore. stop by the <a href="http://www.urbanfarmerrestaurant.com/" target="external">Urban Farmer Restaurant</a> and try this cocktail. Featuring pear vodka, elderflower liqueur, prosecco and bit of lemon juice, this drink is garnished with blue cheese stuffed coppa.

    If meat alone doesn't satisfy you, try the Mercat a la Planxa's "De La Merce" for a bit of surf and turf. Located in the <a href="http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/chirh-the-blackstone-a-chicago-renaissance-hotel/" target="external">Blackstone Hotel</a> in Chicago, Mercat a la Planxa takes the classic Bloody Mary and adds a splash of sherry and Guinness to Absolut Peppar, Bloody Mary mix and cayenne pepper to liven it up. Garnish it with a jumbo prawn surrounded by Serrano ham, White Spanish anchovies, lomo (dried pork tenderloin) and a stuffed green olive and you get "De La Merce."

    Bacon lovers will appreciate the Bacon Bloody Mary, which they serve at the Cascade Bar at the <a href="http://www.tetonlodge.com/" target="external">Teton Mountain Lodge</a> in Teton Village, Wyo. To make it, they take triple-distilled vodka, and soak bacon in it for a week to infuse it with the delicious bacon flavor. Then they use it in their Bloody Mary. The bacon doesn't stop with the vodka, however, since they garnish the drink with candied bacon, smoked tomatoes, pickled green beans, cherry peppers and an olive.

    Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands probably isn't known for its meat, so the <a href="http://www.littledixbay.com/" target="external">Rosewood Little Dix Bay</a> chose to make cocktails with seafood. They added a lobster garnish to their Bloody Mary (left) and their Mojito (right) to give the cocktails a little more flare.

    This is the "End of History" – a blonde Belgian beer from the independent Scottish brewery <a href="http://www.brewdog.com/" target="external">Brewdog</a>, served in bottles made to look like animals. The beer is not a cocktail, but it has the alcohol content of one. It is 55 percent alcohol and costs $775 per bottle. Only 12 bottles have been produced. The company worked with a taxidermist to package the beers, using seven stoats, four squirrels and one hare.

    Each of these cocktails goes beyond the meat and potatoes of mixed drinks, except for this one. Called the Meat and Potato Martini, the <a href="http://www.keystoneresort.com/diningdetail/Key+-+Wolf+Rock+Brewery.axd" target="external">Wolf Rock Steakhouse</a> in Keystone, Colo. offers this twist on a classic; it's made with potato vodka and garnished with a slice of wild game sausage.

    The <a href="http://www.oakroomny.com/" target="external">Oak Room's</a> version of the Bloody Mary at New York's <a href="http://www.fairmont.com/theplaza" target="external">Plaza</a> hotel is called the Bloody Bull for good reason. In addition to the classic ingredients, they add half an ounce bit of beef broth to make this popular drink a little more interesting.

    <a href="http://www.thehomestead.com/" target="external">The Homestead Resort</a> in Hot Springs, Va. pushes the boundaries of presentation with its Golden Pig in a Cloud cocktail. The liquid ingredients give the drink a lot of flavor -- Grey Goose Vodka, White Chocolate Godiva Liqueur, Kahlua, and Half and Half -- but the drink doesn't stop there. It's served in a martini glass. Bartenders paint the inside of the glass with tempered chocolate, pour the drink itself and then garnish with chocolate and gold-leaf-covered bacon to finish it off.
