Past Cruise Ship Disasters
In what continues to be the most infamous cruise ship disaster in history, the "unsinkable" RMS Titanic set sail on its maiden voyage from England to New York City on April 10, 1912 and never made it to her destination. At 11:40 p.m. on April 14, 1912, the ship hit an iceberg, broke apart and sank at 2:20 a.m. on April 15, 1912. Of the total 2,201 people on board, only 711 survived.
