The Fourth Annual Peter Benchley Ocean Awards Ceremony will be held May 21 in Washington, D.C. Author of "Jaws," Benchley (1940-2006) spent more than 40 years educating the public about protecting sharks and our oceans' ecosystems. His widow, Wendy, continues his legacy of conservation. Pictured here is a whaleshark in the Cocos Islands, located in the eastern Indian Ocean and often referred to as "Shark Islands." (istock)
