Plea Deal Possible for Missouri Kidnap Suspect

Prosecutor Says Potential Deal Could Include Several Life Sentences

Prosecutors in Missouri say they are considering a plea deal that would include several life sentences for a man accused of kidnapping two boys and sexually abusing one of them.

A local prosecutor says he may join with federal prosecutors and those from other counties in offering a plea deal for Michael Devlin. He pleaded not guilty today to charges of kidnapping and armed criminal action for the January abduction of 13-year-old Ben Ownby.

He has also been accused of abducting Shawn Hornbeck back in 2002. Both boys were found in January at Devlin's apartment in a St. Louis suburb.

Federal charges include taking a minor across state lines and sexually assaulting him.

Devlin has pleaded not guilty to all of the state charges, but has not entered a plea in the federal case.
