— -- Police in Spencer, Indiana, said Thursday they believe they have found the body of one-year-old Shaylyn Ammerman, who was reported missing by her father Wednesday morning.

Kyle Parker, 22, of Spencer has been taken into custody and is currently being held in connection with this case, police said. Charges are pending.

Police said a body that matches the description of Ammerman was found Thursday evening in a remote area near Gosport, Indiana, more than 36 hours after her father reported her missing from the home in Spencer he shares with his mother, the infant’s grandmother.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday. “We feel like we know it’s Shaylyn, we just want to positively identify her," Sgt. Curt Durnil, an Indiana State Police Public Information Officer, said.

Sgt. Durnil, added, "It's a sad day in this community."

And Owen County Sheriff Sam Hobbs said, “Anytime you lose a child, it hurts. The thing that holds the community together is knowing that the child is safe again with God.”
