A public bus swerved to avoid a pedestrian, instead crashing into a house in Hempstead, N.Y., killing a 6-year-old boy and injuring his 7-year-old brother as the two were getting into bed, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
Around 9:30 p.m., the unidentified 50-year-old driver of a Nassau Inter County Express Bus, sounded his horn several times to warn a jaywalking pedestrian in the path of the bus.
