— -- A physical therapist who was abducted from a California home early Monday morning was kidnapped for ransom, according to police.

Close to 100 people are now scouring the area near the Vallejo, California, home, looking for any sign of the victim, Denise Huskins, a blonde-haired 29-year-old.

“It’s like a bad dream and I can’t wake up,” Huskins’ father, Mike Huskins, told ABC News.

Authorities say Huskins was abducted from the home around 3 a.m., Monday. It was not until 1:55 p.m. Monday afternoon that a 30-year-old male called to report the alleged kidnapping and claimed he had witnessed it.

“He was essentially saying that the female Ms. Huskins was forcibly taken against her will,” Lt. Kenny Park of the Vallejo Police Department, said at a press conference.

Police say they do not know why the man waited hours to call authorities. ABC News has learned the home from which Huskins was allegedly taken belongs to 30-year-old Aaron Quinn.

Huskins’ family has told ABC News that Quinn is their daughter’s boyfriend and co-worker. They also say he is the male who called 911 hours after the abduction.

“Something is wrong there, unless he was tied up,” Mike Huskins said of Quinn.

A Toyota Camry reportedly taken from the scene of the abduction and later found by police is registered to Quinn, reports ABC News’ San Francisco affiliate KGO.

Police say that Quinn is not a suspect or person of interest. They will not disclose who they are talking to in the case or reveal how much ransom is being requested.

“It’s just unreal,” said Huskins’ father. “It doesn’t make any sense.”

With a massive search underway for his daughter, Mike Huskins issued an emotional message to Huskins.

“Just be strong,” he said. “You have your family there and we’ll find you.”

Local police are now getting help from the FBI in piecing together the mystery. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Vallejo Police Department at 707-648-4524.
