— -- New York and New Jersey police presented a heartfelt gift to the Dallas Police Department commemorating five officers killed in a mass shooting last month.

The Dallas Police Department posted photos on their Facebook page Tuesday of an American flag that was flown at half mast at New York's World Trade Center.

"[Port Authority NY & NJ] thank you for your letter of condolences and sending us the flag," read the message.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Port Authority Police Department, which patrols the bridges and tunnels between the two states sent a certificate along with the flag.

"The Flag of the United States of America accompanying this certificate was proudly flown over the World Trade Center site on July 14, 2016," read the certificate.
