Person of the Week: Dear Photograph Blog Fuses Past and Present

Dear Photograph, [Your Memories Here]

Chris Peters, a professional photographer in New Jersey, has had two of her photos published on Dear Photograph. One is a photo of her holding an otherwise unremarkable snapshot of her parents standing on the steps of their home in New Jersey in 1967. It is the caption that draws the viewer in: Dear Photograph, My parents divorced when I was 9 years old. I have no memory of them ever being happy together. http://dearphotograph.com/page/3

"I figured not all memories are happy ones and I wasn't sure if Taylor would even pick it to run on the site due to my quote, but it was my genuine reaction so I wanted to go with it,'' Peters said. "I suppose it is powerful because it is such a raw, honest emotion that many people can identify with."

Jones said he receives about 20 photos a day and posts just one daily. Submissions become the non-exclusive, royalty-free property of the site. Jones told ABC he plans to create a book based on the concept, and a friend is writing a film script as well. The media savvy 22-year-old doesn't plan to stop there, "We also have some TV people within Los Angeles that are interested in the whole concept."

Then and now. Here and there. Sometimes a lot goes on inside a simple rectangle.
