— -- A diver in Florida is recovering after he was bitten by a bull shark in Riviera Beach, according to fire officials.

The diver sustained what Riviera Beach Fire Rescue spokesman Dwayne Watson described as "significant" injuries to his arm from the shark, estimated to be 7-8 feet. He was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach in an unknown condition.

Fire officials said his injuries weren't life-threatening. It is unclear how old he is.

Firefighters were able to help the man, who had been freediving at 60 feet, at the Sailfish Marina in West Palm Beach, where he was brought onto a boat.

Further details of the shark bite and subsequent rescue were not immediately available.
