Khloe and Lamar Tweet Condolences for Teen Killed in Accident
A limo carrying Lamar Odom struck and killed a 15-year-old boy Monday.
July 19, 2011— -- Lamar Odom and wife Khloe Kardashian tweeted condolences today for a 15-year-old boy who died of severe injuries after he was hit by a limo carrying the L.A. Lakers basketball star.
Odom was in New York City to attend his cousin's funeral when the accident occurred in his former neighborhood of Jamaica, Queens. Although Kardashian tweeted that she was with Odom in New York for the funeral, her publicist, Jill Fritzo, said Kardashian was not in the limo at the time of the accident.
The limo carrying Lamar reportedly struck a motorcyclist, whose vehicle in turn veered into the teenager who was on foot. Both cyclist and pedestrian were rushed to nearby Elmhurst Hospital Center, but the boy's injuries proved too severe. According to the hospital, which has not released the boy's name, he arrived at the hospital "in very grave condition at 5:30 p.m. July 14. He was declared brain dead the following day at approximately 2:30 p.m." The motorcyclist sustained only minor injuries.
TMZ reports witnesses said Odom was in tears at the accident scene. "Thank you for your support and prayers! My thoughts and prayers are with the young boy's family," Odom tweeted Monday.
Kardashian also weighed in with a tweet of her own: "My heart/soul goes out 2every1 in pain from any suffering. Pray 4 all of the angels surrounding us constantly. May our spirits stay strong. Above all, love each other deeply, b/c love covers over a multitude of sins."
Despite the tweets, the pair didn't escape unscatherd. In response, Kardashian tweeted "Stop judging other people's lives that u know NOTHING about! My husband&I r in NY 4a funeral 4 his fam. Senseless violence is disgusting!!"
