Jan. 29, 2013 — -- intro:Thousands of people go missing in the United States each year and many are never heard from again.
According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, roughly 800,000 children are reported missing each year in the United States -- that's roughly 2,000 per day.
Here are a few people, both children and adults, that the FBI and local authorities are actively looking for. Read more to find out how you can help bring them home.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children released an age-progression photo of the boy on Jan. 29, 2013, to show what he might look like today. He would be 10 years old.
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office on Jan. 29, 2013, said the case is a "continuing investigation" and investigators are still following up on leads as they come in.
Horman vanished from his elementary school on June 4, 2010, shortly after giving a science fair presentation on frogs. While investigators and volunteers initially scoured the neighborhood and dense forest surrounding the school, speculation turned to Kyron's stepmother, Terri Horman, who said she dropped him off at school that day.
Though Terri Horman has not been charged, a judge called her a "prime suspect" in the boy's disappearance during a hearing on Aug. 22, 2012.
According to the Associated Press, Kyron's mother, Desiree Young, is suing Terri Horman, seeking a court order to force her to say what happened to the boy.

The investigation into the disappearance of the petite fashion major from Greenburgh, N.Y., has taken many turns, yielding thousands of tips and several persons of interest.
Little remains known about what might have happened to Spierer.
Spierer's parents in December 2012 said they do not believe their daughter's disappearance was a "random abduction." They slammed the male friends of their daughter who, they said, were the last to see her before she vanished.
"We have these boys that were there that night that clammed up, shut down, lawyered up," Spierer's father, Robert Spierer, said on "Katie."
Though there have been no arrests in the case, Capt. Joe Qualters of the Bloomington Police Department said Jan. 29, 2013, it is still an active investigation, "which implies that we are still following up on leads, which we are doing."CLICK HERE to read more about Lauren Spierer's disappearance.

Police in Fayetteville turned up no new leads after searching a pond and woods in the area for signs of the missing soldier. Detectives issued a public plea for anyone who was at the bar that night to call a hotline that was set up to collect leads.

Baby Lisa was last seen asleep in her crib when her mother, Deborah Bradley, said she checked on her at 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 3, 2011. The infant's father, Jeremy Irwin, discovered Lisa was missing when he arrived home at 4 a.m. the following morning after working the overnight shift. The parents immediately called the police.
Police have been suspicious of the parents' story since their initial questioning. Bradley said that police accused her of having done something to her child, and also accused her of failing a polygraph test.
Lisa has blue eyes, blond hair, is 30 inches long and weighs between 26 and 30 pounds. She was last seen wearing purple shorts and a purple shirt with white kittens on it. She has a beauty mark on her right outer thigh.

The father, Justin DiPietro, said he put the child to bed the night of Dec. 16, 2011, in his home, and awoke the next day to find her missing, according to police. Several other adults were in the home that night, police said, including one non-relative. Ayla was living with her father while the girl's mother, Trista Reynolds, 23, was in rehab for substance abuse.
Investigators still have no sense of what happened to Ayla. She has blond hair, blue eyes was last seen wearing green, polka-dotted pajamas.
The Maine State Police have taken over the case, which remains an "open and active" investigation.

The FBI searched for the toddler, who has been missing since Nov. 6, 2011, after his mother, Julia Biryukova of Redmond, Wash., said she left him alone for an hour in a disabled car in Bellevue, Wash.
Biryukova told police she was driving with her two children when she ran out of gas on 112th Avenue. She and her 4-year-old, Maile Metalwala, trekked about a mile to a nearby gas station, Northtowne Chevron Service, leaving Sky in the car, she said.
Biryukova did walk to the gas station that morning, police said, but she never bought gas there, and her story was "strikingly similar in nature" to a "Law & Order" episode.
Sky's father, Solomon Metalwala, who is separated from his wife, told ABC News in 2011 that he believed she was responsible for their son's disappearance. The couple had a troubled history that included a citation for leaving Sky alone in a parked car at a Target parking lot in 2009 and angry accusations hurled at each other during divorce proceedings.
Sky has brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black and aqua blue sweat pants, and white socks. The toddler was 2-feet, 10-inches tall and weighed 28 pounds.

Parker's cell phone was discovered at the bottom of a lake near Smith's house, prompting fears by Parker's family that foul play was involved in her disappearance.
Orlando Police Department said Jan. 29, 2013, that it is still an active case, but no arrests have been made.

Her car was found on the side of Highway 6 in Jefferson County, Colo., with her belongings in it, including the keys in the console, her purse under the seat and her hiking backpack in the vehicle. The car was left unlocked.
Andrea Ahonen said her sister had an frightening experience with a man several months before she disappeared when she used Craigslist to advertise for a roommate, and she has told police about it.
Hoping to save some money, Amy Ahonen posted an ad on Craigslist looking for a roommate. In March 2011, a man who responded came to look at the place and "tried to kiss her," according to her sister.
But the Denver police told ABC News Jan. 29, 2013, that they do suspect foul play in the case of Ahonen's disappearance. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains open and active.
Ahonen was 5-foot-4 and had a slender build, light blonde hair and blue-green eyes.

Thurstle Mullen, a Memphis nurse, and his wife told the Jackson Sun on Jan. 13, 2013, that he is offering a $100,000 reward for Bobo's abductor to turn himself in. He said he got permission from Bobo's family to post the reward.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation told ABC News Jan. 29, 2013, that the reward was up to $180,000.
Bobo has blond hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt and light-blue jeans. She would be 22.

Police said they believe Asha simply packed her backpack and started off down the road in the middle of the night. Several motorists passed her, but no one stopped to check on her. Eighteen months later, Asha's book bag was found wrapped in trash bags 26 miles away.

Sabrina's mother, Marlene Aisenberg, told police at the time that she had last checked on the baby at midnight on Nov. 24, 1997, but when she returned to her daughter's room at 6:42 a.m., Sabrina was gone -- a detail eerily similarity to the Lisa Irwin case.
Investigators initially accused Marlene Aisenberg and her husband, Steve Aisenberg, of lying about their daughter's disappearance, and charged them with conspiracy and additional charges in 1999.
In 2001, a federal judge ruled that investigators had lied when they sought permission to place wiretaps in the Aisenberg home. The charges against the Aisenbergs were dismissed after tapes recorded from the wiretaps were ruled inaudible by a federal judge.
The Aisenbergs maintain they had nothing to do with their daughter's disappearance. To this day, Sabrina has never been found.
Sabrina had brown hair and blue eyes as an infant.
