Motorcyclist Captures Violent Road Rage on Helmet Cam
A driver appears to punch a motorcyclist in the head.
— -- An apparent road rage attack caught on a helmet camera in Yuma, Arizona, could lead to charges against a motorist.
The man, identified as 51-year-old Lee Schismenos, can be seen on the video jumping out of his car and apparently hitting the motorcycle’s driver, 24-year-old Cody Munoz.
Schismenos can then be seen on camera shoving Munoz’s passenger, 21-year-old Luisa Loy.
“This has never happened to me, so at that moment I was like, ‘What can I do,’” Loy told ABC News.
Schismenos continued to push and shove and appeared to have thrown a punch at Munoz’s helmet before he tripped and fell over the curb, breaking his ankle in the process, according to the police report.
“Once he was on the ground you could sort of see, you know, his eyes raging, you know, really red, dilated for some reason,” Loy said.
Schismenos, who was subdued by Munoz and a witness, allegedly told police he had “three to four shots of whiskey,” according to the police report.
The July 11, 2015, altercation, all captured on Munoz’s helmet camera, “was related to an earlier traffic incident” where the motorcyclist allegedly cut off Schismenos’ car, the police report said.
Munoz can be heard in the video saying, “I did nothing to you,” to which Schismenos replies, “Yeah, you just broke the law.”
Police say Schismenos could face possible charges including “assault, disorderly conduct, threats, endangerment and impaired driving.”
Schismenos could not be reached for comment.
