— -- Dog lovers who put their faith in their loyal furry friends can now fight to the bone to own a misprinted sheriff's office rug featuring a sheriff's logo that read, "In Dog We Trust."

After being hounded over the misprinted rug, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri in Pinellas County, Florida, has put it up for auction online.

“The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will not 'sweep anything under the rug,'" the department said in a pun-filled news release. "In light of the continued and extensive interest regarding our plans for the 'doggone' rug, at this time we can confirm that the rug will be auctioned online with proceeds to be donated to a local animal rescue group. Sheriff Gualtieri will discuss the de'tails' immediately following the 'Operation Street Sweep' news conference. Just to 'throw you a bone': The rug will be available at the presser for a photo opportunity."

Within an hour, the bidding was up to $930 for the rug that originally cost $500.

The full purchase price will go to Canine Estates Inc., a local animal rescue organization, a sheriff's department official said.

Bidding ends Wed., Jan. 21 at 4 p.m.

The rug manufacturer, American Floor Mats, was sending the sheriff's department a corrected rug that reads "In God We Trust" for free, sales manager Sam Rockwell said.

"The letters probably just got switched by our printing program and quality control just missed it," Rockwell told ABC News Thursday. "[The replacement] was printed late today and will ship fully corrected tomorrow."

A deputy doing security pointed out the typo Tuesday to reporter Adam Winer of ABC News station WFTS just before the rug was rolled up.

The rug had been in the lobby for the last couple of months, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.
