Bitter from decades of exploitation by Jakarta, Indonesia, Irian Jaya's mostly Christian native people gathered in Jayapura, Indonesia, in 2000 for the second Papua Congress. The following photos are a part of "Smile! A Visual Anthology by VII Photos" put together by the photo agency VII which will be shown in an exhibition at the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place in New York starting April 4, 2014. The collection shows the wide range of moments that elicited a smile, from war zones to weddings.
