Famous Literary Hoaxes

In another shocking literary hoax, Anthony Godby Johnson supposedly wrote the memoir "A Rock and a Hard Place" (1993). In the book, Johnson claimed he was dying of syphilis and AIDS before a social worker named Vicki Johnson adopted and thereby saved him. Several investigations cast doubt on whether Johnson existed. In January 2007, ABC News' "20.20" revealed that Anthony Godby Johnson did not exist and had been fabricated by Vicki Johnson. (amazon.com)
