John Wiley as a boy standing next to his grandmother's 1954 Cadillac, the car that his father left in his garage, untouched for decades. At birth, Clark Wiley's mother had given him the girl's name Pearl, and he was unmercifully teased by his peers. Later, he changed it to Clark, but would deify his mother for the rest of his life. Historians say the man became enraged when the teen arrested for his mother's death was not prosecuted. He quit his job and moved in to his mother's house, beginning a decade of abuse against his children and his wife.
