— -- The oldest time capsule in the country, dating back to 1795, has been unearthed in Boston. With the country waiting in anticipation to see what's inside, it makes us wonder, what would earthlings place in a time capsule to commemorate 2014?

Major global events include war, disease, political upheaval and, of course, odd popular culture phenomena.

Here are some suggested items to put in a time capsule to represent this past year's events:

Several athletes have worn "I Can't Breathe" shirts during warm ups in support of the family of Eric Garner, who died July 17 after a police officer placed him in a chokehold when he was being arrested for selling loose, untaxed cigarettes.

The country has been embroiled in a social and political debate over the police killings of unarmed black men, most recently New Yorker Eric Garner, whose last words "I can't breathe," were captured on video. Politicians and celebrities, including NBA stars from the Los Angeles Lakers, have donned T-shirts with those words.
