Bin Laden was wanted in connection with the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, in which 3,000 people were killed, as well as the Aug. 7, 1998, bombings of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya, that killed over 200 people.
