— -- Sony is still in the hot seat as hacked emails casting celebrities in a negative light continue to surface, but at least one PR expert says there's still hope for the beleaguered company to smooth things over.

"It's going to be very challenging but I think they will [recover]," said Howard Bragman, an ABC News consultant and vice chairman of Reputation.com. "We didn't see anything illegal. We saw some racially tinged things, we saw some disrespectful emails. But there was nothing that was, 'Oh, my God.'"

Right now, Sony should just "keep their business going," he said. "They've got to open their movies and market their movies, and keep doing business as usual.”

The leaked emails included jabs at high-profile celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Kevin Hart and Will Smith. And this weekend hackers threatened to leak more damning private information, promising to deliver a "Christmas gift.”

"Nobody can be happy about it," he said. "The competitors can't be happy about it, because what if they're next? This is the new world we live in. There is no wall between public and private."

To make up with the stars, Bragman suggests "a lot of one-on-one meetings, some emails, some presents."

"People like presents. It's the season," he said.

But the leaks are unlikely to sway celebrities from making movies with Sony in the long run, Bragman, whose clients have included Ford, AT&T and Eddie Bauer, added.

"One of the requisite skills for being a star is having thick skin," he said. "When you're in the public eye, people criticize you.

"I don't think anybody likes it. But I don't think it's a deal-breaker. I don't think they're going to turn down a movie they want to be in because of it."

The company did not immediately respond today to ABC News' request for comment, but Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Amy Pascal issued a public apology last week for the emails.
