Jan. 2, 2014— -- Police in Santa Ana, Calif., are asking for the public's help in identifying a "Jane Doe" crash victim who has been hospitalized since she was critically injured in a traffic collision nearly three months ago.

The mystery woman was pushing a shopping cart across a busy Santa Ana intersection on Oct. 15 when police said she was struck by a car.

The woman was taken to the Western Medical Center in Santa Ana in "extremely critical condition," according to police.

She has remained in the hospital, where police said she could not communicate and was still "fully dependent" on the care of the staff.

Investigators ran the woman's fingerprints through local, state and federal databases, according to police, but no matches were found.

The woman does not match the description of any reported missing persons in the Santa Ana area, police said.

Anyone who recognizes her is asked to contact the Santa Ana Police Traffic Division at (714) 245-8214.
