1. Midwest Bracing for Wild Winter Weather

After a massive snow storm hammered the Great Plains on Thursday, the Chicago is bracing for wild winter weather this morning. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the area until Friday night. There could be a period of heavy snow falling at the rate of an inch per hour.

2. Hagel Confirms Defense Secretary Votes

Chuck Hagel has secured the necessary votes for the Senate to confirm him as the country's next defense secretary. A vote ending the fight over President Obama's Cabinet choice is expected next week.

3. 38K Pounds of Pork Sausage Recalled

Smithfield Packing Co. is recalling about 38,000 pounds of pork sausage. The Virginia company recalled certain containers that may contain small bits of plastic, likely from gloves, in a product called Gwaltney mild pork sausage roll.

4. Peterson Sentenced to 38 Years

Drew Peterson, the policeman who gained notoriety after his fourth wife vanished, was sentenced to 38 years in prison on Thursday for murdering a previous wife.

5. 'Batman/Superman' Series Announced

DC Entertainment says it will unveil a new ongoing series focusing on Superman and Batman. "Batman/Superman" is set to debut in June and will focus on how the iconic heroes first met in the publishing company's re-launched universe.
