1. Malala Yousafzai, Kailash Satyarthi Win Nobel Peace Prize

Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan and Kailash Satyarthi of India were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for their work for children's rights.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee cited the two "for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education."

Malala, 17, is the youngest ever winner of a Nobel Prize. A schoolgirl and education campaigner in Pakistan, she was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman two years ago.

Satyarthi, 60, has maintained the tradition of Mahatma Gandhi and headed various forms of peaceful protests, "focusing on the grave exploitation of children for financial gain," the Nobel committee said.

2. N.Korean Leader Apparent No-Show at Major Event

For the first time in three years, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un wasn't on a list of dignitaries at a celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers' Party. The apparent no-show will add to mounting speculation that something is amiss with the authoritarian leader, who hasn't been seen publicly in more than a month.

An official state media dispatch listed senior government, military and party officials who paid their respects at an event marking the party's 69th anniversary, but not Kim. It said a flower basket with Kim's name on it was placed before statues of his father and grandfather, both of whom also ruled North Korea. State media earlier said that the might of the party "is growing stronger under the seasoned guidance of Marshal Kim Jong Un."

3. What It Looks Like When There’s an Ebola Scare on a Plane

An Ebola scare on a US Airways flight leaving Philadelphia prompted officials to meet the plane when it arrived in the Dominican Republic after a passenger reportedly said he had Ebola.

US Airways flight 845 to Punta Cana was inspected upon arriving Wednesday "due to a possible health issue on board," the airline said in a statement.

4. Jan Hooks Dead at 57: Comedian Starred on 'Saturday Night Live' in the 1980's

"Saturday Night Live" great Jan Hooks died at the age of 57, a representative for the actress and comedian confirmed to ABC News.

Hooks was part of the show from 1986 to 1991 and worked alongside some of the best talent that the legendary live show had ever seen, including the likes of Mike Myers and Chris Farley. On the sketch comedy show, she played icons from the era, including Hillary Clinton, Tammy Faye Bakker and Sinead O'Conner.

5. 30 Years After 'Karate Kid,' Billy Zabka Says Cobra Kais Are Still Best Friends

"Sweep the leg!"

Everyone has their favorite line from the movie "Karate Kid," in which Daniel LaRusso fights back against bad boy and bully Johnny Lawrence to win the All-Valley Karate Tournament in the thrilling end to the 1984 film.

And of course, everyone remembers, "Put him in a body bag, Johnny! Yeah!"

Thirty years after the film's release, Billy Zabka, 48, says the film had deep impacts on his life, and that the members of the movie's Cobra Kais gang remain close.
