Started as a burglary and ended without masked -- shot and killed -- by police but by the burglars father and he had no idea. On July mask came off. We have -- 11 o'clock I'm over it. And I'm sure -- veteran -- the father apparently running next door to confront a -- instead of calling police. When it was over fifteen year old Tyler Giuliano was dead killed by his dad. It happened in the quiet town of New Fairfield Connecticut a town now in shock and mark Riley is there tonight with our lead story -- Bill -- Sade this -- according to police was dressed in all black and he had his face covered. With a black mask investigators right now trying to sort through all the facts in. They think you're dealing with a troubled teen here there's nothing to point to any trouble with the law or any problems at school. It happened not far from where this -- Workers sits blocking off the investigation. A man shooting and killing his son overnight believing the fifteen year old was a burglar. State police say around 1 Thursday morning Geoffrey Giuliano sister called and because she thought someone was breaking into our home so he went next door. He came over with a handgun. When he got to the property there was a fact that someone had -- to be someone trying to break in an intruder. Those quick confrontation between the two. According to reports injured -- lunged at him the intruder apparently did have a weapon. John Hodge with New Fairfield police says Giuliano opened fire killing the suspected burglar. Only to find out it was his son Tyler it's it's tragic and so many levels. You know. And a small -- such -- -- where we've -- -- -- very little crime anyway and then to have a major crime like this it's it's pretty devastating for everyone involved including a resonance. Target was a sophomore in New Fairfield high school his dad is a fifth grade teacher down the road. -- experts quickly around town which students and neighbors expressing your emotions on social media.
