An Oregon State Police detective says a pipe bomb discovered in the Eastern Oregon city of Boardman would have damaged a trailer home park had it exploded.
Detective Dennis Wagner told the East Oregonian newspaper ( http://is.gd/8emq4x ) that the bomb's potential blast radius was at least 100 yards.
Two women found the unusual-looking device Saturday during a community cleanup day in the city of 3,500. It turned out to be a pipe bomb with explosive powder and 4-inch nails to create shrapnel.
The trailer park is at one end of the road, which creates foot traffic. But there are no homes and businesses in the area where the bomb was found.
Police say they have no suspects in the case.
