— -- Investigators will meet with prosecutors to determine whether or not a crime was committed after two 3-year-olds were shot and injured by another toddler in Michigan, police said.

The Associated Press said the Wednesday morning shooting took place at a home day care facility in Dearborn, about 10 miles outside of Detroit.

Dearbon police said "a preliminary investigation revealed a toddler in the home accessed a handgun and the weapon discharged."

Police said today that both victims are in the hospital listed in serious but stable condition.

Police said today interviews have been conducted with all parties involved, and investigators will meet with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office to see if charges will be filed.

According to Everytown for Gun Safety, there have been at least 215 unintentional shootings by children this year.

Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said, "This is a tragedy that affects the entire community and we wish the best for the victims involved."
