Whale Haven in Chile

Whale Sounds: This computer screen shows the sounds Buchan has recorded. The yellow band represents a repetitive "thumping" sound usually associated with the blue whale. The small yellow speck that follows is a higher "bird call" sound that is not usual for a whale. Together they make a beautiful eerie sound. Buchan consults scientists around the world to see if they can help her figure out what she is hearing. (Jeffrey Kofman/ABC News)
